Shabana Falak

Shabana Falak is a PhD researcher in the EPSRC CDT in Advanced Engineering for Personalised
Surgery and Intervention at King’s College London. She has a background in pharmacy and holds
a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from IIT Bombay, with research experience in drug
delivery and biomaterials.
Her research focuses on engineering stimuli-responsive, drug-eluting sutures and implants. She is
developing systems that enable on-demand, localised drug release via focused ultrasound (FUS),
with applications in brain tumour resection and vascular surgery.
Her work integrates biomaterials, controlled drug delivery, and therapeutic ultrasound to improve
post-surgical outcomes and reduce disease recurrence. Outside her research, she is an avid
photographer, exploring perspective and detail through the lens of the natural world.
